My friend Renee Johnson posted this on her twitter recently:
“Dreams are a window to the future. Sometimes you have to shatter the glass to get there.”
I studied on the thought for a minute. I’ve heard for many years about doors closing and God opening windows.
It never sat well with me, and I didn’t know why until today. It’s a victim mentality, wrapped up in a cutesy quote. So if an oppourtunity or relationship or whatever ends/closes, we are to wait until God rescues us by opening a window. God will provide for us, just you stay in the room and wait.
Yes, I agree, there is a time to wait, a time to settle, and another chance may come. But I think it is more like this:
“When a door closes, God is waiting outside with gauze and Scooby-Doo band-aids waiting for you to smash the spankin’ window and jump.”
That’s probably wouldn’t be marketable for t-shirts or bumper stickers though…
